So, Blink-182, Sum 41, and Good Charlotte have all had something of a revival in the last year, since 5sos have been a thing that exists. All great pop-punk bands who had mainstream success in the early 2000s but had fallen off a bit in recent years. And I’m not saying 5sos did that. I would never say that, because they are all amazing bands in their own right and to credit someone else with their comebacks would be disrespectful. But a part of the reason they were able to come back, is that there is suddenly a huge mainstream market of young music fans who want guitar-driven pop/rock again, something we haven’t seen in easily a decade. And 5sos did THAT. And I’m proud of my boys.
also good charlotte and all time low specifically said that working with 5sos inspired them with fresh energy and excitement seeing 5sos being so young and still so excited about writing and playing new music
I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure Kellin Quinn said the same thing, that 5sos in part inspired SWS to put out their latest album Madness.
also don’t forget about ashton drumming on a large part of andy biersack’s solo album!!! he didn’t just inspire someone to release new music, he played a tangible role in the creation of new guitar-driven music and that’s pretty damn awesome
